Husband gets life for murdering wife in N’ganj

NARAYANGANJ, Sept 10: Mohammad Delwar Hossain, judge of the Narayanganj Additional Sessions Judge’s Court-3, on Thursday afternoon sentenced a man to life imprisonment and also fined Tk 1 lakh, in default, to serve more six months of simple imprisonment for the murder of his wife in Rupganj Upazila of the district.

Court Police Inspector Md Abdus Samad confirmed the matter.

Convicted Abdur Rahim Khan, 33, is the son of the late Dhalu Khan of Bahadurpur area under Muladi Upazila of Barishal District. The victim, Marufa Akter, was the daughter of Md Ibrahim Munshi of Rajarchar area under Kotwali Police Station in Barishal.

Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Md Nazrul Islam (Masum) said that following a family dispute, Abdur Rahim Khan beat and strangled his wife, Marufa Akter, to death at their rented house in the Rasulpur area of Rupganj on June 13, 2022.

Following the incident, Marufa Akter’s father, Ibrahim Munshi, filed a case with Rupganj Police Station. The court delivered the verdict in that case.
