BNP National Executive Committee member and Supreme Court lawyer Dr Khondaker Maruf Hossain has alleged that the banned Awami League is trying to make a comeback through what he described as a “terrorist network”.
He said no attempt to create terrorism, anarchy, violence or disrupt public security in Daudkandi and Meghna upazilas would be tolerated.
“The peace-loving people of these areas will never accept such activities. These anti-people activities will be dealt with through strict legal action,” he said.
Maruf made the remarks in a post on his verified Facebook account on Saturday.
Calling on all democratic forces that participated in the 2024 mass uprising to unite with peace-loving people against terrorism, anarchy and instability, he urged them to build a strong political, social and lawful resistance.
“Our struggle is not one of revenge. It is a struggle to protect the lives and property of the people and establish democracy and the rule of law,” he said.
He said protecting the safety and communal harmony of people in Daudkandi and Meghna was their commitment, adding that no provocation, conspiracy or subversive activity could divert them from it.
“The rule of law, people’s unity and democratic values will be our strongest response to all forces seeking to undermine them,” he said.
