Robi bowler hunt begins nationwide

With the goal of discovering bowling talents hidden across different corners of the country and nurturing them for the national level, 'Robi Bowler Hunt' is making a comeback.

Jointly organized by Robi and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), this talent hunt will also offer female cricketers the opportunity to participate this year.

Furthermore, the scope of this edition is broader than in previous years. Guided by the motto "Parbe Tumio" (You Can Too), providing opportunities to both pacers and spinners from various parts of the country is a key goal of this year's Robi Bowler Hunt.

The joint initiative by Robi and BCB has a successful history of unearthing new talent for Bangladesh cricket. Ebadot Hossain emerged from the 2016 Robi Fast Bowler Hunt. In a competition featuring nearly 40,000 young pacers, Ebadot became the fastest bowler by clocking a speed of 139.9 km/h.

He later became an integral part of the Bangladesh national team's pace attack. Similarly, Rishad Hossain emerged from the 2017 Robi Spinner Hunt, going on to establish himself as a crucial leg-spinner for the national team. These success stories serve as a major inspiration behind organizing the event once again.

The Robi Bowler Hunt will begin on September 27. The selection rounds will take place across eight venues nationwide, including two in Dhaka. The other venues will be in Sylhet, Khulna, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Chattogram.

The Barishal trials will be held in Khulna. Trials will proceed according to a scheduled timetable across different dates. This event will offer young bowlers from various regions a platform to showcase their skills.

Selectors will be present on-site during the selection process for both male and female cricketers. The judging panel will feature former Pakistan national team leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, former West Indies national team pacer Corey Collymore, and Mohammad Salahuddin, the head coach of Bangladesh's High-Performance squad. In addition, national team coaches will be involved throughout the selection process.

However, the journey does not end with merely finding talent. Selected bowlers will receive modern training and ongoing development opportunities. The sole objective is to prepare today's promising bowlers for the national team and its talent pipeline in the days ahead.
