Matt Renshaw marked his return to Australia’s ODI side in style, smashing a century as Australia defeated Zimbabwe by 59 runs in the first match of the three-game series on Tuesday.

Australia, batting first after winning the toss, posted 294 for eight in their 50 overs. Renshaw anchored the innings with a superb 109 off 94 balls, earning the Player of the Match award. His century provided the platform for Australia to finish with a competitive total despite losing wickets at regular intervals.

Zimbabwe began the chase with intent but struggled to maintain momentum as the Australian bowling attack kept taking wickets. The hosts were eventually dismissed for 235 in 45.1 overs, handing Australia a 59-run victory.

The result gives Australia a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The visitors will now look to seal the series in the second match.

For Australia, the match was also a landmark occasion for captain Mitchell Marsh, who made his 100th ODI appearance. Marsh praised Renshaw after the match, saying the batter had taken his opportunity and made a strong statement with his performance.
