Two establishments in Sachar Bazar in the Kachua Upazila, Chandpur, were fined a total of Tk 60,000 following a mobile court drive conducted under Section 52 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
The mobile court was led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amit Roy operation on Thursday (September 17) afternoon.
During the drive, Renaissance Medical Center was fined Tk 50,000 and Seba Diagnostic Center was fined Tk 10,000 for offenses including operating without a license or meeting required standards, maintaining extremely unhygienic and hazardous conditions in operating theaters or hospital premises, and providing medical services through unqualified personnel.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amit Roy stated, "No negligence or fraud regarding the health of the general public will be tolerated. Healthcare providers must operate within the established regulations. We will continue such drives to protect public interest and curb adulteration or irregularities."
Also present during the operation were Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Abu Nasir, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the Upazila Health Complex Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain, and members of the Sachar Police Outpost, among others.
