Students from eight universities in Bangladesh have called for the swift formulation and implementation of Front-of-Pack Labelling (FOPL) regulations on packaged foods. The regulations would provide consumers with easy-to-understand information about excessive sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats, ensure consumers’ right to know, and help prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The call was made at the day-long “Youth Voice for Front-of-Pack Labelling Debate Festival 2026,” jointly organized by the Health and Nutrition Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission and the Dhaka University Debating Society. The event was held on Saturday at the auditorium of the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka.
Students from Jahangirnagar University, Jagannath University, Bangladesh University of Professionals, BRAC University, Bangladesh University of Textiles, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, United International University, and Dhaka College participated in the debate competition.
