SI dies from electrocution in Gaibandha

A police sub-inspector (SI) died after being electrocuted while repairing an IPS at his home in Gaibandha.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Haripur village of Gobindaganj upazila.

The deceased was identified as Asaduzzaman, serving as an SI at the Police Headquarters in Dhaka.

According to police, Asaduzzaman returned to his village home on Saturday morning on leave. In the evening, when the power went out, he was repairing an IPS (instant power supply) at his house.

At one point, he suffered an electric shock and fell to the ground. Family members rescued him and took him to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex, where attending physician declared him dead.

Gobindaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozammel Haque said, "police were sent to the scene after receiving the information."

The body was recovered and sent to the morgue of Gaibandha General Hospital for an autopsy.

The body will be handed over to the family after completion of the legal procedures, he added.
