Police members ran back into Kashimpur Police Station after being chased by agitated garment workers during a protest in Gazipur on Tuesday afternoon.

The workers also attempted to surround the police station, triggering a chase and counter-chase between the two sides. Police later fired sound grenades and tear gas to disperse them.

According to police and local residents, workers of DBL Group's factory in the Kashimpur area were staging a protest when the officer-in-charge of Kashimpur Police Station and other police personnel went to the spot to calm them down.

However, the agitated workers chanted “fake, fake” slogans and chased the police. The officers ran back into the police station, but the workers gathered around the premises and began throwing bricks and stones.

Police then fired tear gas and sound grenades to disperse the protesters.

Kashimpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Molla Mohammad Khalid Hossain said he could not comment on the incident at that moment. He confirmed that the workers had left the area and the situation was normal.
