Fight over fuel price leaves Nilphamari filling station closed

A dispute over fuel prices led to a clash between customers and the owner of a filling station in Dimla upazila on Sunday night, leaving four people injured.

The incident took place at Messrs Alam Filling Station around 1:30 AM. Injured Mahbubur Rahman, 27, was admitted to Dimla Upazila Health Complex.

According to police and locals, customers protested when owner Shah Alam began setting the newly increased fuel prices on the pumps after midnight. The situation turned violent, and four customers were injured.

Police later reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The administration has temporarily suspended all operations and fuel sales at the station.

Shah Alam denied attacking customers, saying angry customers had first assaulted his employees. He also claimed fuel sales were stopped due to a temporary power problem.

Dimla police OC Ashraful Islam said no written complaint had been filed by either side. Legal action will be taken if a cmore omplaint is received.
