PM Tarique Rahman attends UN chief’s welcome breakfast

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman attended a welcome breakfast hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres for world leaders and their spouses attending the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

The breakfast was held at the UN Headquarters in New York at 8:00 AM local time on Tuesday.

World leaders attending the General Assembly's high-level week were invited to the breakfast hosted by Guterres. Tarique Rahman and Zubaida Rahman joined the photo session with the UN secretary-general and his wife and exchanged greetings with them.

The breakfast marked the beginning of the prime minister's engagements at the 81st UN General Assembly.

After the breakfast, Tarique Rahman attended the opening of the General Assembly's high-level segment. The 81st session's general debate is being held from September 22 to 26 and September 28 at UN Headquarters.

The prime minister is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 24, according to his itinerary. It will be his first address to the UN General Assembly as prime minister.

During his visit, Tarique Rahman is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and courtesy calls with heads of government and senior officials of several countries and international organisations.
