51st special BCS circular issued, 5,000 doctors to be recruited

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the circular for the 51st Special BCS Examination 2026, through which 5,000 doctors will be recruited to the BCS (Health) cadre.
Of the posts, 4,700 will be appointed as assistant surgeons and 300 as assistant dental surgeons.
Online applications will open at 10am on October 1 and continue until 6pm on October 25.
The PSC published the circular on Thursday (September 24).
According to the circular, the number of vacant posts may change due to the creation or abolition of posts, promotions and other reasons.
Candidates aged between 21 and 32 as of September 1, 2026, will be eligible to apply.
Applicants must fill out the application form through the Teletalk Bangladesh Limited website or the PSC website within the stipulated time. The application fee is Tk 200 for general candidates and Tk 50 for candidates from ethnic minority communities, persons with disabilities and third-gender candidates. An additional Tk 5 will be charged as VAT and data verification fees.
Although applications must be submitted by 6pm on October 25, candidates who receive a User ID within the deadline will be able to pay the application fee within the following 72 hours.
Candidates who are in the process of completing the required educational qualifications may also apply. However, they must complete all their written examinations by October 25, 2026. Equivalent certificates for local or foreign degrees and necessary documents related to BMDC registration must be submitted during the viva voce.
Government and autonomous institution employees must apply with permission from their respective authorities, the circular said.
Candidates will be selected based on a total of 300 marks. Of these, 200 marks will be allocated for a written examination and 100 marks for the viva voce. The written test will be conducted in MCQ format.
The written examination will include 20 marks each for Bangla, English, Bangladesh Affairs and International Affairs. Mental Ability and Mathematical Reasoning will carry 10 marks each, while 100 marks will be allocated to subjects relevant to the respective cadre or post.
For each incorrect answer, 0.50 marks will be deducted.
The PSC said the written examination is likely to be held by November, primarily in Dhaka.
The circular also warned candidates against violating examination rules or making improper attempts to influence the recruitment process. Any form of lobbying or recommendation will be considered grounds for disqualification.
Candidates may also have their candidature cancelled for providing false information, submitting forged certificates or using mobile phones or digital devices to engage in unfair practices during the examination.
The PSC further said such violations could lead to criminal proceedings or disqualification from participating in future government examinations.
