Six more police officers dismissed after ICT convictions

Six more police officers were dismissed from service on Thursday (September 24) after being convicted in separate cases by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), according to notifications issued by the Home Ministry.

The Police-1 branch of the ministry issued separate notifications dismissing the six officers under the relevant provisions of the Government Service Act, 2018. The orders, issued in the public interest, took immediate effect.

The dismissed officers are Shah Alam Md Akhtarul Islam, Mohammad Imrul, Syed Nurul Islam, Md Asaduzzaman, Md Abdullahil Kafi and Shahidul Islam.

Shah Alam Md Akhtarul Islam was sentenced to death by ICT-1 and his dismissal was made effective from January 26, 2026. Mohammad Imrul was sentenced to six years in prison by the same tribunal, with his dismissal also effective from January 26.

Syed Nurul Islam, Md Asaduzzaman, Md Abdullahil Kafi and Shahidul Islam were sentenced to life imprisonment by ICT-2. Their dismissals were made effective from February 5, 2026.
