Chatmohar BNP protests against AL’s violence

CHATMOHAR, PABNA, Sept 25: Local units of the BNP and its affiliated organisations staged a protest procession and rally in Chatmohar Upazila on Thursday night, condemning what they described as clandestine activities and violence by the banned Awami League.

The procession began at around 8pm from Afratpara area and passed through the main roads of Chatmohar Municipality before ending in a street rally near the Shahi Mosque intersection.

A large number of BNP leaders and activists took part in the procession, carrying banners and chanting slogans against what they alleged were attempts to create unrest in the area.

Addressing the rally, BNP leaders alleged that Awami League activists were involved in various acts of violence and attempts to disrupt public order.

They accused the banned party's members of setting fire to vehicles, organising surprise processions and carrying out crude bomb explosions at different strategic locations.

The speakers said such activities were aimed at creating panic among local residents and destabilising the situation in Chatmohar.

They demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the alleged incidents and urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The BNP leaders also warned that they would resist any attempt to create instability or disrupt peace in the area.

They called on the administration and law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and take prompt action against anyone involved in violence or acts of sabotage.

The speakers further urged party activists and local residents to remain alert and maintain peace and social harmony in the area.

The programme ended peacefully, with no immediate reports of clashes or untoward incidents.
