11 banned AL, BCL activists detained in Naogaon

Eleven activists of the banned Awami League (AL) and the activities-banned Bangladesh Chhatro League (BCL) were detained while allegedly preparing for a flash procession in Naogaon on Saturday (September 26).

They were detained from the Balihar Bridge area of the Naogaon-Rajshahi highway in Sadar upazila in the afternoon, with local Chhatra Dal and BNP activists reportedly assisting in the operation.

Naogaon District DB Officer-in-Charge Hasibullah Habib said the 11 were taken to the DB office for questioning. Police are investigating whether they had any plan to carry out activities aimed at creating instability.

The detainees are reportedly residents of Atrai, Raninagar, Sapahar and Niamatpur upazilas. Their full identities were not immediately available.
