Jamaat announces Tk 50 lakh aid to rebuild Radda health centre

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced Tk 50 lakh in aid for rebuilding the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur, Dhaka, which was damaged in an attack, vandalism and looting.

Jamaat Ameer and Leader of the Opposition Dr Shafiqur Rahman made the announcement on Monday while visiting the damaged health centre.

“We will continue the assistance we initially announced, InshaAllah. This is the beginning, not the end,” he said.

Announcing the Tk 50 lakh donation, Shafiqur Rahman said further assistance would be provided if necessary to ensure healthcare for people in the area.

“If anything more needs to be done for the healthcare of people in this area, we will do it, InshaAllah,” he said.

Expressing concern over the attack, vandalism and looting at the health centre, the Jamaat chief alleged that such an incident could not have taken place without the shelter and patronage of people from the ruling party.

Jamaat central executive council member and Dhaka city secretary Dr Muhammad Rezaul Karim, central working committee member and city assistant secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, central Majlis-e-Shura member and city assistant secretary Dr Fakhruddin Manik, central Majlis-e-Shura member and city publicity and media secretary Ataur Rahman Sarker, and city working committee members Nasir Uddin, Shah Alam Tuhin, Dr Moinuddin, GM Hafizur Rahman and Monirul Islam Mridha were, among others, present.
