Ex-Cantonment OC remanded in sedition case

A Dhaka court on Monday placed former Cantonment Police Station OC Inspector Rakibul Hasan on a fresh two-day remand in a sedition case filed over allegedly spreading anti-state and provocative statements on social media.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ishrat Jahan passed the order after a hearing. Rakib was produced before the court after completing a five-day remand. Investigation Officer Inspector Md Jihad Hossain of the Detective Branch’s Gulshan Zonal Team sought a fresh three-day remand, saying the accused had provided important information during interrogation.
