Bayern face tough conditions to sign Kounde

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Barcelona defender Jules Kounde in the January transfer window, but they will have to meet a hefty asking price.

The 27-year-old has started only three of Barcelona’s first seven matches this season. With Eric Garcia becoming more important to coach Hansi Flick, Kounde’s role has been reduced.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, cited by Foot Mercato, Kounde is high on Bayern’s list of winter transfer targets. His contract with Barcelona runs until June 2030.

Bayern are reportedly considering selling South Korean defender Kim Min-jae to help finance the deal, potentially raising around €30 million. However, another report suggests Kim is unlikely to leave in January.

Barcelona have reportedly set Kounde’s price at around €75 million, making the deal a significant financial challenge for Bayern.

Kounde’s future could still change, however, particularly after Andreas Christensen’s injury, which could see Flick use the Frenchman more regularly at centre-back.
