Iranian state media Press TV has alleged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan orchestrated the Flydubai flight incident as a “false flag” operation to blame Iran and create a pretext for renewed attacks.
Press TV claimed the incident was intended to divert attention from scrutiny over the October 7 Hamas attack, strengthen Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 election and create a pretext for a new confrontation with Iran. The allegations have not been independently verified.
The Flydubai flight was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday (September 30) when a co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and the aircraft rapidly lost altitude. Passengers and crew intervened, and the plane was diverted to Tabuk in Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely. Saudi, UAE, Israeli and other authorities are investigating the incident.
Press TV also cited claims on social media that the incident was staged to influence Israel's election and escalate regional tensions. Israel has rejected the false-flag allegations, while the UAE has launched an investigation into the incident. The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
