China has halted exports of refined oil products to destinations beyond Hong Kong and Macau, raising concerns over fuel supplies across Asia.
Chinese refiners have stopped October fuel shipments as Beijing seeks to preserve domestic stocks amid tightening global supplies. PetroChina has also cancelled some gasoline and jet fuel cargoes scheduled for October, according to sources cited by Reuters.
The suspension could tighten supplies in key Asian markets, including Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Asian refining margins have already risen sharply amid expectations of reduced Chinese shipments.
China had previously tightened fuel export restrictions in March following disruptions to Middle Eastern crude supplies before easing them in July. It remains unclear when Beijing will allow fuel exports to resume.
