The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), setting the price of a 12kg cylinder at Tk 1,837, up Tk 252.
The new price came into effect at 6 PM on Sunday and will remain in force until further notice.
Under the revised rates, a 5.5kg LPG cylinder will cost Tk 842, while a 12.5kg cylinder will cost Tk 1,913.
The prices of 15kg, 16kg and 18kg cylinders have been set at Tk 2,296, Tk 2,449 and Tk 2,755 respectively.
A 20kg cylinder will cost Tk 3,061, while the prices of 22kg, 25kg, 30kg, 33kg, 35kg and 45kg cylinders have been set at Tk 3,367, Tk 3,827, Tk 4,592, Tk 5,051, Tk 5,357 and Tk 6,888 respectively.
According to a BERC notification signed by its Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Sarker, the adjustment was made based on Saudi Aramco's October contract prices for propane and butane of $680 and $730 per metric tonne respectively.
Considering a propane-butane ratio of 35:65, the average Saudi CP was set at $712.50 per metric tonne for October.
