Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat has said the government is giving the highest priority to ensuring overall security at the country’s airports, warning that negligence in duty will not be tolerated.
At the same time, the minister said officials who fail to properly discharge their responsibilities would face strict punishment, while those who perform their duties with diligence would be rewarded.
He made the remarks on Monday after inspecting the 'Airport Fire Emergency Exercise 2026' at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Millat said the lives and safety of passengers during any emergency depend largely on the preparedness and efficiency of the agencies concerned. Therefore, he stressed, no slackness in carrying out official duties would be accepted.
The minister praised the effective coordination among the agencies involved, saying the government is maintaining constant vigilance and implementing priority measures to ensure full security and world-class services at the country’s airports.
