The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division filed 2,999 cases against traffic law violators during an operation across the capital on Tuesday.
According to the DMP, the highest number of cases was filed in Gulshan division with 855, followed by Wari with 505, Motijheel with 462, Uttara with 406, Mirpur with 318, Tejgaon with 199, Lalbagh with 146 and Ramna with 108.
The operation targeted motorcycles, buses, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, trucks and covered vans for various traffic violations.
During the drive, 639 vehicles were dumped and 286 were towed.
The DMP said such operations will continue to maintain traffic discipline, control congestion and take action against violators on the capital's roads.
