A 13-month-old boy was rescued from Dhaka’s Dohar after allegedly being sold for Tk 2 lakh for trafficking in Mymensingh’s Ishwarganj.
Police rescued Mozahid from Harichandi area of Char Mahmudpur Union in Dohar around 5:45 AM on Wednesday.
Five people, including the child’s grandparents and aunt, have been arrested over the incident. The child’s father and relatives allegedly sold him to unidentified people on September 28.
The child’s mother, Rozina Begum, filed a case with Ishwarganj Police Station after initially lodging a general diary on October 5.
Police said Mozahid is currently in their custody and will be handed over to his family following a court order. The investigation is underway.
