Four more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,428 people were reported with suspected or confirmed measles, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS disclosed the figures in a press release on Thursday (October 8), covering the 24-hour period from 8AM Wednesday to 8AM Thursday.
According to the release, 1,332 people were admitted to hospitals with suspected measles during the period, while 96 were confirmed to have measles. No confirmed measles deaths were reported during the 24-hour period.
From March 15 to October 8, a total of 1,040 people have died with suspected measles, while 104 died after being confirmed with the disease, bringing the combined death toll from suspected and confirmed measles to 1,144.
During the same period, 178,927 people were admitted to hospitals with suspected measles, of whom 171,680 have recovered and been discharged. The DGHS also recorded measles symptoms among 201,625 people, while 22,116 were confirmed to have the disease.
