The holy month of Ramadan in 2027 is expected to begin on Monday, February 8, with 121 days remaining as of October 10, according to astronomical calculations.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the board of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, said the new moon would form at around 7:50pm UAE time on Saturday, following sunset.

Al Jarwan said the new crescent could be visible to the naked eye on Sunday evening, October 11. If confirmed, Monday, October 12, could mark the first day of Jumada al-Awwal in the Islamic year 1448 AH.

The start of Jumada al-Awwal would leave four lunar months before Ramadan. However, the projected dates remain subject to official moon-sighting announcements.

Astronomers estimate that Ramadan could last either 29 or 30 days. Accordingly, Eid-ul-Fitr may fall on Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10, 2027.
