Airstrikes have targeted the international airport in Yemen’s Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, amid escalating hostilities between the Iran-aligned group and a Saudi-led coalition.
The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported the attack at around 7:45 PM Bangladesh time on Sunday.
Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition carried out airstrikes in northern Sanaa, including at least seven strikes in Harf Sufyan district of Amran governorate, according to Al Jazeera.
The latest strikes came a day after a devastating attack by the Houthis on Riyadh’s international airport in Saudi Arabia, which reportedly killed 12 people, including two Bangladeshis, and injured more than 300 others. Several of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.
The other victims included one citizen each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan, while five were Saudi nationals.
The attack also caused infrastructure damage, the extent of which was still being assessed. Saudi Arabia suspended flight operations at Riyadh airport following the strike.
The Saudi-led coalition has not yet commented on the latest attacks in Yemen. It had earlier threatened a strong response following the strike on Riyadh.
Attacks and retaliatory strikes between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia have continued for nearly two months, with civilians bearing a significant share of the casualties.
