240 N'ganj puja mandaps get aid

NARAYANGANJ, Oct 11: Narayanganj Zilla Parishad has distributed cheques worth Tk 10,000 each to 240 puja mandaps in the district ahead of the Hindu religious festival.

The cheques were handed over on Sunday afternoon at the Parishad’s conference room. Zilla Parishad Administrator and District BNP Convener Professor Mamun Mahmud attended it as the chief guest while Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Md Mashfakut Rahman chaired the programme and Executive Officer Ramananda Pal moderated the event.

Among those attending were District Puja Udjapan Parishad President Shankar Kumar Dey, General Secretary Shikhan Sarkar Shipon, former president Shankar Saha, District Puja Celebration Front Vice-Chairman Joy K Roy Chowdhury Bappy, its District Convener Abhay Kumar Roy and its Metropolitan Member Secretary Hrishieksh Mondal.

Mahmud said security arrangements would be established at every puja mandap. He added that law enforcement personnel and volunteers would maintain a safe distance from worshippers to ensure they could participate in the celebrations without disruption.
