Two people were found dead in separate incidents in Bagerhat and Narayanganj districts on Sunday.
BAGERHAT: Police recovered the hanging body of a 48-year-old day labourer from a mango tree in North Southkhali Village in Sarankhola Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.
The body of Milon Molla, son of Raihan Molla of Bagerhat Sadar, was recovered after his wife, Jabeda Begum, found him hanging from a tree near their home, said Sarankhola Police Station (PS) Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rokeya Khanam.
Molla had married Jabeda, daughter of Jabbar Kabiraj of North Southkhali Village, about 20 years ago and had been living at his in-laws’ home. The couple struggled financially, with Molla working as a day labourer and his wife begging to support their household.
An autopsy was completed at the morgue of Bagerhat District 250-bed Hospital on Sunday afternoon. Police registered an unnatural death case in connection with the incident.
NARAYANGANJ: Police recovered the body of an unidentified teenage girl, tied on hand and feet and stuffed in a sack, from an abandoned area beside the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road in Narayanganj on Sunday.
The body was recovered around 11 am from the Uttar Bhuiyan area of Fatullah after passersby spotted the sack and informed police. Police sent the body to the Narayanganj 100-Bed General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Fatullah Model PS OC Mahabub Alam said the body bore multiple injury marks. Police were working to establish the victim’s identity.
Investigators suspect the perpetrators killed the girl and dumped her body at the site in a sack in an attempt to conceal the crime, Alam said. Police were conducting operations to identify and arrest those involved.
