Global oil prices fell after US President Donald Trump decided not to enforce several planned sanctions against Russia.

Brent crude futures dropped nearly 1% to $108.80 a barrel in Asian trading on Monday.

On Friday, Trump signed an executive order suspending several planned measures targeting Russia. The decision, taken days ahead of the scheduled deadline, included waiving tariffs on Russian goods and punitive measures related to purchases of Russian oil and gas.

Oil prices had closed at their highest level since May 19 on Friday. However, Trump's decision to ease the planned sanctions against Russia triggered a downward trend in international oil prices.
