According to calculations released by astronomical research institutions, the holy month of Ramadan in 2027 is expected to begin on Monday, February 8.

However, the final determination of the start of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr will depend entirely on the sighting of the crescent moon.

A report published by Middle East-based media outlet Gulf News highlighted that because the Islamic Hijri calendar is based on lunar cycles, the month of Ramadan advances by roughly 10 to 12 days each year. Following this pattern, Ramadan in 2027 is projected to commence about 10 to 11 days earlier than in the preceding year.

Astronomical forecasts indicate that if the new crescent moon is sighted on the evening of February 7, 2027, the first Tarabi prayers will take place that night, with fasting beginning the following day.

The month of Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, with the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr depending on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent. Based on current astronomical projections, Eid-ul-Fitr in 2027 is likely to fall on Wednesday, March 10.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, holds profound spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide as the month in which the Holy Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). During Ramadan, Muslims observe fasts from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and smoking while devoting extra time to prayers, Quranic recitation, charity, and self-restraint.

Ahead of Ramadan 2027, Muslim-majority nations and religious authorities are expected to prepare mosques and public welfare services, while official moon-sighting committees will formally announce confirmed dates closer to the period.

Religious authorities emphasize that while astronomical calculations provide reliable estimates, the official start date remains grounded in traditional moon sighting.
