Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman warned that party leaders and activists must unite behind nominated candidates in the upcoming Union Parishad elections, asserting that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will not forgive anyone engaging in hypocrisy or betrayal within the party ranks.

The Law Minister made these remarks as the chief guest during an exchange of views with local BNP leaders and activists at the Shailkupa Upazila BNP party office in Jhenaidah on Tuesday (October 20) morning.

Addressing the gathering, the Law Minister stated, "Everyone must work for the candidate chosen by the party in the upcoming Union Parishad elections. Anyone standing as an obstacle in this path will be expelled from the party. The Prime Minister will provide a specific formula on how to conduct grassroots activities."

He emphasized the party's focus on electoral viability, noting that reports from every union will be monitored directly in the Prime Minister's central system.

"The party requires winning candidates. If our candidate does not win, my position as a senior leader holds no value. If BNP had not returned to power, individual standing or leadership would have meant nothing," the Minister remarked. "Candidates must be selected based on their ability to win. Recommending a personal favorite who lacks public support will not yield results."

Reiterating party discipline, he added, "The party is our ultimate trust. If anyone betrays the organization or acts against its interests, we reserve every right to take stern organizational action."

The Law Minister also commended local leaders for maintaining discipline, noting that extortion, illegal occupation, and tender manipulation have been effectively curbed in Shailkupa.

Key leaders and activists from various tiers of the Shailkupa Upazila BNP were present at the exchange meeting.
