Bangladesh is planning constitutional amendments to balance powers between the president and the prime minister, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Saturday (October 24).
Speaking after a meeting of the special committee on constitutional amendments at the National Parliament Building, Salahuddin said the proposals aim to establish a more balanced distribution of executive authority.
The committee discussed transferring appointment powers for six commissions or statutory bodies to the president. Members reached a consensus on four bodies, while broad agreement was reached on the remaining two.
The minister said further written opinions on the proposals would be considered as part of the constitutional amendment process.
