Four persons were found dead in separate incidents in Char Fasson Upazila of Bhola District, Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur District and Bagerhat District in two days.

CHAR FASSON, BHOLA: Police recovered the body of a 24-year-old man, identified as Piyal, from his home in Ward No. 1 of Hazariganj Union in Char Fasson Upazila of the district on Saturday.

Family members discovered his body inside the house after returning from prayers at a local mosque around noon. Neighbours informed police after hearing the family’s cries for help.

Police from Shashibhushan Police Station (PS) visited the scene, prepared an inquest report and sent the body to Bhola Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The cause of death remains unknown, and it has yet to be determined whether Piyal was murdered or died by suicide.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shashibhushan PS said an investigation was underway. Further legal action will be taken after the autopsy report is received.

KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Police recovered the bodies of a factory worker and a college student from two separate locations in Kaliganj Upazila of the district, within a span of about 24 hours, on Saturday morning and Friday evening. Police initially suspect both deaths were suicides.

The first victim, Delwar Hossain, 50, son of Abdul Gofur of Panchapukur Village in Nilphamari Sadar Upazila, was found hanging from a tree beside a pond near Shishu Mitali Park in the Baligaon Chowdhury Bari area of Kaliganj on Saturday. He lived in the area with his wife and three children. His wife said he was mentally disturbed and left home on Friday night.

The second victim, Anik Biswas, 18, a first-year HSC student at Kaliganj Government Sramik College, was found hanging at his home in Madhya Chuariakhola Village on Friday evening. Family members rushed him to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Kaliganj PS OC Sajjad Karim Khan said the bodies have been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for autopsies.

Two separate unnatural death cases have been filed. Police said further details would be known after the autopsy reports.

BAGERHAT: The body of a fisherman Mehedi Hasan, 22, was recovered on Friday afternoon, 24 hours after he fell into the Pashur River in Mongla Upazila of the district, while travelling to the Dublar Char dried-fish processing hub in the Bay of Bengal.

His body became entangled in a fishing net set in a canal near Chila Bazar and was recovered by local residents.

Mehedi Hasan, a resident of Gobindapur Village in Rampal Upazila, fell into the river on Thursday morning, while brushing his teeth aboard a trawler anchored near Sindurtala. He was swept away by the current.

Fire Service divers launched a search operation but failed to locate him on the first day. Mongla River Police later sent officers to the scene after receiving news of the recovery. Following legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family.
