Four shops gutted in Amtali fire

AMTALI, BARGUNA, Oct 31: Four business establishments were gutted in a fire that broke out at around 7 am on Saturday on Sadar Road, near Amtali Government College in Amtali Municipality.

The fire reportedly originated at Bahar Library before spreading to nearby shops. Firefighters from Amtali Fire Service, assisted by local residents, brought the blaze under control. No casualties were reported.

The affected businesses include Bahar Library, Milon’s Garments, Nurul Amin’s cosmetics shop and a salon owned by Sukharanjan Shil.

Bahar Library owner Khalilur Rahman said the cause of the blaze was unknown.

Cosmetics shop owner Nurul Amin estimated his losses at Tk 10-12 lakh.

Amtali Fire Service Station In-charge Mahbub Hossain said the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. 

Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Yakub Hossain police were deployed in the area.

Amtali UNO Hasan Md Hafizur Rahman visited the damaged shops and said affected business owners would receive government assistance.
