Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has signaled that he may reprise his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming sixth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, provided the project delivers a proper conclusion to the saga.
While no official confirmation has been issued regarding his return, the actor revealed during a promotional interview for his new film 'Ebenezer' with Entertainment Tonight that he would consider returning to give the franchise a memorable final chapter.
"I really only want to be involved to give them a proper send-off," Depp stated, emphasizing that the narrative direction remains his primary consideration.
Depp also expressed his eager readiness to collaborate again with long-time producer and close friend Jerry Bruckheimer, noting that mutual trust and friendship outweigh specific project details.
Bruckheimer had previously confirmed to Entertainment Weekly in mid-2025 that preliminary discussions had taken place with Depp, adding that the actor could return if he finds the finalized script compelling.
Producers are currently developing the screenplay to secure a suitable storyline for the sixth installment.
Depp debuted as Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003 with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and went on to star in five films in the series through 2017.
The global blockbuster franchise has grossed nearly 4.5 billion USD worldwide, with two entries—Dead Man's Chest (2006) and On Stranger Tides (2011)—each crossing the 1 billion USD mark at the global box office.
