Stop Double Fee Collection at National University

Published : Saturday, 7 November, 2026 at 12:00 AM
Letter To the Editor
Dear Sir,

A persistent irregularity in collecting in-course and test examination fees at colleges affiliated with the National University is placing an unnecessary financial burden on students. During the academic year, colleges collect Tk 1,430 or more from each student, including Tk 450 for the first in-course examination, Tk 450 for the second and Tk 530 for the test examination.

However, when the National University issues its final form fill-up notice, colleges again include the in-course examination fees, forcing students to pay twice for the same examinations. This practice continues from the first year through the master's level, despite repeated objections from students. Unfortunately, college administrations have paid little attention to their complaints.

Such double collection is unfair and reflects a lack of proper oversight by the National University. We urge the Vice-Chancellor and relevant authorities to investigate the matter and issue immediate directives to all affiliated colleges to stop this irregular practice and protect students from unnecessary financial hardship.
