Child’s body found hanging in Bhola

Police recovered the hanging body of a child from Lalmohan upazila of Bhola district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Tamim, 10, son of Md Rafik of Kalamullah area under Dhaligournagar union in the upazila.

His body was found hanging from a betel nut tree in the Janata Bazar area under Ward No. 4 of the same union on Sunday morning.

According to local sources, Tamim had gone to a nearby rice mill with his grandfather in the morning to grind rice.

After reaching the mill, the child was seen playing with a rope hanging from a betel nut tree in a garden adjacent to the rice mill.

After finishing work, his grandfather returned home, as he did not hear from Tamim.

Later, an auto-rickshaw driver passing by the adjacent road noticed the child hanging from a betel nut tree with a rope around his neck and informed police.

Being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body.

Lalmohan Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Aliul Islam confirmed the incident and said that the body has been sent to Bhola General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report and an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident, added the OC.
