Woman’s body found hanging in Kushtia

Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Champa Khatun, 40, wife of expatriate Ansar Ali, a resident of Yusuf village under Aria union in the upazila.

According to local sources, Champa Khatun was found hanging in her room by residents on Monday morning. She reportedly lived alone at home, as her husband has been abroad for a long time and her son stays outside for studies.

Sources said that on Sunday night, a religious gathering (Waz Mahfil) was held in the village. After returning home from the event around 10:00 PM, Champa Khatun went to her room. The following morning, neighbours noticed her hanging through a window and immediately informed the police.

Being informed, police arrived at the scene around noon, recovered her body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Daulatpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Arifur Rahman confirmed the recovery and said that the cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
