GAURIPUR, MYMENSINGH, Jan 27:  The National Citizen Party (NCP) has appointed prominent poet Selim Bala as its ambassador in Mymensingh-3 (Gauripur) to spearhead campaigning in favour of the 'Yes' vote in the upcoming nationwide referendum.

Party sources said the NCP has launched a countrywide initiative to build public support for the 'Yes' vote as part of efforts to strengthen the country's democratic process.

In Gauripur, Selim Bala will lead the campaign, working alongside local party leaders to mobilise voters at the grassroots level and highlight the importance and necessity of voting 'Yes' in the referendum.

Selim Bala was earlier nominated by the NCP as its candidate for the Mymensingh-3 (Gauripur) constituency in the forthcoming parliamentary election. However, he later withdrew from the race for strategic reasons after the NCP formed alliances with Jamaat and several other political parties.

The party's Central Committee has now entrusted him with the special responsibility of shaping public opinion for the Referendum by appointing him as an ambassador.

Speaking about his new role, Selim Bala said, "Following the party's directive, I will encourage the people of Gauripur to take part in nation-building by casting a 'Yes' vote in the referendum. Together with party leaders and activists, we will take the message of the 'Yes' vote to every household."

NCP leaders and activists across Gauripur Upazila have already begun preparations for the campaign, with growing enthusiasm evident ahead of the referendum.
