5 found dead in four districts

Five people were found dead in separate incidents in Noakhali, Bhola, Naogaon and Brahmanbaria districts in two days.
NOAKHALI: Police recovered the body of a 14-year-old madrasa student from a roadside near a paddy field in Subarnachar Upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased, Md Naim, was a Nazera student at Darul Ulum Madani Nagar Madrasa and lived with his maternal grandparents. His body was found around 12:30 pm in Madhyabagya Village with injury marks under his chin.

Naim had been visiting his grandparents since Saturday. Family members discovered him missing during Fajr prayers on Tuesday, and his grandfather found his body roughly 100 yards from the house hours later.

The grandfather alleged that Naim’s father, Ibrahim Khalil, had been issuing threats following the remarriage of Naim’s mother 20 to 25 days ago. 

Ibrahim Khalil was called several times to know about the allegation but he could not be connected.
Noakhali Additional Superintendent of Police Ahmed Peyar stated that initial findings point to a homicide. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.

BHOLA: Police recovered the body of six-year-old Mohammad Ismail from a canal in Borhanuddin Upazila of the district on Tuesday, two days after he went missing. The child’s body was found stuffed inside a sack near Muslim Para in Ward No. 5 of Borhanuddin Municipality around 11 am.

Police detained a local youth, Mohammad Rokon, for questioning in connection with the death. Ismail’s family said he left home on Sunday morning for a nearby shop and did not return. Locals informed police after noticing a foul smell coming from a floating sack in the canal on Tuesday morning.

Ismail’s uncle alleged that Rokon had previously threatened the child’s father following a dispute over the sale of a mobile phone. 
Police Inspector (Investigation) of Borhanuddin Police Station (PS) Ripon Kumar Saha said the body was sent to Bhola Sadar Hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will follow if the family files a case.

NAOGAON: Police on Tuesday recovered the floating body of a 45-year-old scrap metal trader from a pond in Niamatpur Upazila of the district.

The victim, Mohidul, was a resident of Chhatra Nistani Village and had been missing since Monday evening. Locals spotted his body on Tuesday morning in a pond adjacent to the Chhatra cattle market and informed authorities.

According to his family, Mohidul struggled with drug addiction, and relatives suspect he may have accidentally fallen into the water while being intoxicated.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Niamatpur PS Md Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the incident.

BRAHMANBARIA: Police recovered the partially decomposed body of a seven-year-old madrasa student from a bush beside a pond in Nabinagar Upazila of the district on Monday, nearly 48 hours after she went missing.

Mim, daughter of Mizanur Rahman of Bidyakut Village, disappeared after leaving home on Saturday morning. Locals spotted her body near a pond in Bidyakut Village on Monday afternoon and informed police. Police recovered the body and sent it to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. 

Nabinagar PS OC Morshedul Alam Chowdhury said an investigation was underway to determine the cause of death.

On the other hand, police recovered the body of a 20-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, his hands and mouth bound with Scotch tape, from a bush near the Nasirnagar Government College intersection in the district on Monday morning.

The deceased, Arjan Mia, son of Md Awal Mia of Chikanpur Village in Habiganj’s Lakhai Upazila, was found after the owner of a nearby shop spotted the body and alerted police. Police said there were signs of injury on his body.

An auto-rickshaw believed to belong to Arjan had been found abandoned in the area the previous night. Relatives later identified it as his vehicle.

Nasirnagar PS OC Maksud Ahmed said the body was sent to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. Police are investigating the motive and those responsible for the killing.
