Global K-pop phenomenon BTS are set to make a sensational return with a live show celebrating their new album, which will be streamed worldwide by Netflix.
On Saturday, RM, Suga and J-Hope will release the album ‘Arirang’, while on Sunday at 8pm local time, BTS will perform tracks from the album at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul in a special event titled “BTS Comeback Live: Arirang”.
The show will be available to audiences in 190 countries through the streaming platform.
The last group release was the anthology album ‘Proof’ in June 2022.
With “Arirang”, BTS return to their fans after three years and nine months, following an early-year announcement of the new album.
Big Hit Music, the group's agency, explained that Arirang reflects the roots, identity, and inner sentiments of the artists, which they aim to share with their listeners.
The album’s title comes from Korea’s most iconic folk song – “Ari” meaning beauty and “Rang” meaning loved one -- carrying deep emotions sung across generations at celebrations, work, protests and state events.
Netflix is also scheduled to premiere a documentary titled “BTS: The Return” on Mar 27.
The film will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the album's production and chronicle the group’s musical journey.
BTS are not stopping at the album. They will kick off a global tour in April, running until next March, performing 79 shows across 34 cities.
Their last tour was in Las Vegas in 2022 with “BTS Permission to Dance on Stage”.
The four-year hiatus was due to mandatory military service for RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.
During this period, some members released solo songs, but the band did not appear together until last year, when they returned and announced their new album and world tour.
