BAGERHAT, Feb 8: Independent heavyweight candidate MAH Selim, former District BNP president and ex-MP, alleged that his campaign vehicle was attacked and vandalised twice on Saturday, sparking fear among voters in Bagerhat.
The incidents occurred first at Bhasha Bazar in Kachua Upazila under Bagerhat-2 constituency, and later at Bandhal Bazar in the same upazila while the vehicle was returning to Bagerhat Sadar. Selim accused BNP-backed rivals of orchestrating the attacks, saying his growing popularity had made him a target.
Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station OC Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the incidents, saying law enforcers visited the spot and later brought the situation under control.
