The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured four seats, while Jamaat-e-Islami candidates won two seats from Rajshahi’s six parliamentary constituencies, according to an unofficially announced result.
In Rajshahi-1 (Tanore–Godagari): Jamaat nominee Mujibur Rahman won with 171,786 votes, narrowly defeating BNP’s Sharif Uddin, who received 169,902 votes, with a margin of 1,884 votes.
In Rajshahi-2 (Sadar): BNP’s Mizanur Rahman Minu secured 128,546 votes, defeating Jamaat’s Dr Mohammad Jahangir, who received 100,370 votes, with a margin of 28,176 votes.
In Rajshahi-3 (Paba–Mohanpur): BNP candidate Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milan won 176,318 votes, ahead of Jamaat’s Professor Abul Kalam Azad with 137,927 votes, a lead of 38,391 votes.
In Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara): Jamaat’s Dr Abdul Bari Sardar won 115,226 votes, surpassing BNP’s DMD Ziaur Rahman, who received 109,461 votes, a margin of 5,765 votes.
In Rajshahi-5 (Puthia–Durgapur): BNP-backed Professor Nazrul Islam Mondal claimed victory with 153,425 votes, defeating Jamaat’s Maulana Manzur Rahman, who secured 73,445 votes, a lead of 79,980 votes.
Lastly, in Rajshahi-6 (Charghat–Bagha): BNP candidate Abu Said Chand won 148,672 votes, defeating Jamaat’s Nazmul Haque, who received 92,965 votes, with a margin of 55,707 votes.
Returning Officer Afia Akhter confirmed the results, including postal ballots, at around 2:00 AM on Thursday.
The results highlight BNP’s dominance in the region, winning four out of six seats, while Jamaat managed to retain two constituencies.
