KCC holds prayer session marking Khaleda Zia’s birth anniversary

Khulna City Corporation (KCC) organised a prayer session on Saturday marking the birth anniversary of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Speaking at the prayer session held after Asr prayers at the Baitun Noor Jame Mosque Complex, KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju recalled the contributions of the late Khaleda Zia.

He said Khaleda Zia took charge of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), founded by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and led the party through a prolonged movement and struggle before forming a government after winning the 1991 general election. As prime minister, she took responsibility for running the country and, within a short period, helped take Bangladesh to a new level of development and prosperity, he said.

Praying for the eternal peace of Khaleda Zia, the KCC administrator said her beloved son, Tarique Rahman, has been elected prime minister and has started working to build a prosperous and just Bangladesh. He also prayed to Almighty Allah for the success of the prime minister’s efforts.

The prayer was led by Baitun Noor Jame Mosque Khatib Hafez Mawlana Md Imran Ullah.

Khulna WASA Chairman and freedom fighter Mohammad Moniruzzaman, KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Secretary Md Reza Rashid, Chief Health Officer Dr Sharif Shammul Islam, Executive Engineer Sheikh Md Masud Karim, former councillor Md Gias Uddin Boni, social worker Jafrullah Khan Sachchu, Arifuzzaman Apu, Md Asaduzzaman Murad, Yusuf Harun Manju, former KCC Education and Cultural Officer SKM Tashaduzzaman, KCC officials and employees, ward-level authorised officials and prominent citizens of the city attended the prayer session.
