Passenger detained at Ctg airport with smuggled cigarettes, phones

A passenger was caught attempting to smuggle 270 cartons of foreign cigarettes and 15 mobile phones at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Saturday morning.

National Security Intelligence (NSI) and customs officials intercepted the passenger, Mohammad Hossain Zahed Habib, a resident of Fatikchhari upazila in Chattogram district, upon his arrival from Dubai on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-148 around 9:45 AM.

Shah Amanat International Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Ibrahim Khalil confirmed the seizure. 

The confiscated items were handed over to airport customs and the estimated market value of the goods is Tk 990,000.

Following legal procedures, the passenger was released after receiving a verbal warning.
