Auto-van driver killed in collision with trolley in Pabna

An auto-van driver was killed and two others injured after an auto-van collided with a shallow-engine-powered trolley in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Torab Ali, 60, son of late Shukur Ali of Dharail village. The injured were trolley driver Babu Hossain and helper Rana Ahmed. Both were admitted to the upazila health complex.

The accident occurred around 2:00 PM near Dharail Bridge in Haripur Union, local residents said.

According to locals, a corn-laden trolley was travelling towards Chatmohar from Haybatpur in Natore. Torab was travelling in his battery-run auto-van after dropping off a female passenger near Dharail Bridge when the vehicles collided.

Torab sustained serious injuries, including a broken left arm and injuries to his head and other parts of his body. The trolley driver and helper were also seriously injured.

Locals rescued the three and took them to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Torab dead.

Chatmohar Police Station OC oliur Rahman said, "police were sent to the accident site and the hospital, adding that legal proceedings were underway."
