
NAWABGANJ, DINAJPUR, Mar 11: Nawabganj Upazila in Dinajpur celebrated International Women's Day on Wednesday with a series of programmes aimed at promoting education and community development.
The day began at 11 am with a colourful rally organised by the Daudpur branch of the Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB). Participants marched through the main streets of Daudpur, raising awareness about women's empowerment and rights.
Following the rally, a discussion session was held in the CCDB hall, chaired by Area Manager Durka Sen. The chief guest, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zillur Rahman, addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of supporting women's education and social development.
As part of the day's celebrations, CCDB distributed educational materials free of charge to students from small indigenous communities. Additionally, 23 local cooperatives received a total of Tk 3.5 lakh as seed capital, funded by CCDB, to support community-based development initiatives.
The programmes aimed to highlight the importance of education for marginalized groups and promote gender equality at the grassroots level.
