New BMP commissioner meets journos

BARISHAL, Aug 8: Newly appointed Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Commissioner Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh on Saturday held his first meeting with local journalists after assuming office. 

Journalists raised concerns over drug abuse, juvenile crime, theft, mugging, and traffic congestion. They also stressed the need to make police services more accessible to ordinary people. They urged the police to take effective measures to ensure the safety of city residents.

Responding to the queries, the Commissioner Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh said winning public trust would be his top priority. He said improving the law and order situation would remain a key focus. He added the police would strengthen technology-based and people-friendly policing. He also emphasised close coordination with the media in carrying out policing activities.
Senior BMP officials and Journalists attended the programme. 

Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh took charge as BMP commissioner on August 5. Before joining BMP, he served as a DIG at Police Headquarters. He had also previously served as a deputy commissioner of BMP.
