2 killed in Madaripur road crash

Two motorcyclists were killed after being crushed by a truck in Madaripur district on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam, 33, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Shirkhara union in Sadar upazila and Nazmul Khan, 17, son of Panna Khan, a resident of Ishibpur union under Razoir upazila in the district.

According to locals, the incident occurred around noon when they were heading towards Madaripur town on a motorcycle. When they reached Kaliganj Nabab moar area, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit their motorcycle, causing them severely injured.

Later, locals rescued them and rushed them to Madaripur General Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the incident and said that the bodies have been kept in the hospital morgue.

Further legal procedure is underway, added the OC.
