A 10-year-old boy allegedly abducted from Lakshmipur was rescued in Noakhali early Monday and reunited with his family following the intervention of an Ansar member working at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU).

The child, identified as Ibrahim Khalil, was rescued from the Sonapur area of Noakhali around 5:20AM on Monday by Abhijit Chowdhury, an Ansar member deployed at the university’s Agrani Bank branch.

Abhijit said he was returning from Chattogram after leave and was travelling by rickshaw through Sonapur when he saw the boy running in a frightened and distressed state near Royal Hospital.

After stopping the child and speaking to him, Abhijit learned that the boy had allegedly been abducted on his way home from a madrasa the previous day and kept confined in a house in Sonapur.

The boy reportedly managed to escape from the house and was running around the area. Abhijit then took him to the NSTU campus for his safety.

Other Ansar members, including Ong Marma and Ostad Chingmong Marma, provided the child with shelter at the university's main gate and collected information about his family. They subsequently contacted his parents.

Ibrahim, son of Iqbal Khan and Khaleda Begum, is a resident of Darzipara Khan Bari area under Chandraganj upazila in Lakshmipur. He is a resident of Ward No. 5 of the area.

Later, the boy’s parents and relatives came to the university campus. After verifying their identities and necessary information, the Ansar members handed him over to his family.

Abhijit said, “I saw the child running in fear in Sonapur while returning from home after leave. After speaking to him, I learned that he had been abducted from his way home from a madrasa the previous day. I took him to the university for his safety. With the help of other Ansar members, we contacted his family and handed him over after verification.”

The family members expressed gratitude to the NSTU Ansar members for helping the child return home safely.
